Article on Helix in Linux User and Developer Magazine
Helix was the subject of a recent magazine article. I am quoted a few times in there.

The confluence of the Helix open source community and a major player such as Real Networks is clearly a win-win for both parties. Reading the comments of Mr’s Dendi and Bacon I felt my heart lift at the prospect of media innovation freed of the domination of the big media and big software companies which control much of the IP in use today. That said, I believe that the real issue will be what formats the end user wants to use. In the audio world MP3 is increasingly the lingua franca of the online world. I would love to see the Helix community leverage its growing influence to restore a place for really good sounding audio (away from MP3, towards lossless or at least less lossy scheme’s) and also take meta data gathering and useage to the next level.

Thank you for the comment Andy. You make a very good point about lossless codecs - I believe we have access to two different ones. The one we can readily use, although only in the RealPlayer for Linux, is the Real Audio Lossless codec.
Furthermore, I would love to see a community member help add native support for FLAC to the Helix Player.
Would love to hear more comments, suggestions from you on the Helix Community mailing lists.
