The above article on rediff.com inspired a movie that is to release this week. While the title was political and didn’t really convey the true message of the article – the article did enough to motivate the director of the oscar nominated indian film Lagaan to make this the story of his next movie.

Two young engineers in south india, are helping small villages that have not seen the benefits of electricity by building pico-hydel projects. One by one, little by little these projects are lighting lamps in villages where it has always been dark at night.

No wonder these two won the MIT TechInnovators prize last year.
